Starting from the purpose of the divine revelation and pointing out the antecedents in the Old and New Testaments, the investigation analyzes the emergence and development of the Lectio Divina and its role in the spiritual growth of the monks. The theological foundation of the past and the present is reviewed, to then propose the Lectio Divina as an effective instrument in the spiritual itinerary of the laity in today's world
